Ahh... Friday again.

Well, I'm doing a little better than I was last Friday! Still very tired and somewhat walloped by whatever knocked me out last week. I'm just trying to have coffee at regular intervals to stay awake and semi-focused. :D I'll get a handle on it yet! I do have the upcoming weekend to sleep in if I choose....

We had a "going away" luncheon for our secretary this week. Luckily a new one started this past Monday. It's sad to see her go. I've been here 12 years and I've seen many come and go. Sad...

As far as my sister, she has an appointment on Feb. 19 for another consultation with the ACS. Supposedly they will set her up with a surgery date at that point. She says they are just booked solid with people who need their help. (Says a lot more than I care to about our health care in this country.) I worry about her a lot. I'll be going to visit her and the rest of my family next month.

In other news, only son called last night. Even though he lives a mere 3 miles away, we haven't heard from him in more than a month. He seemed in good spirits. He wanted to go play poker with his dad. (They used to do that ALL the time together.) So I picked him up and off they went! At this point, I'm just glad to know he's alive and well and wanting to spend time with us. Don't know how long it will last, but with "grown" children, anything is good.

And now I'm off to make coffee!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!! And if you have bad weather, be careful, be safe, and take care of yourselves!!

I am SO glad it's finally Friday!!

(Forgive me if my writing is a little disconnected or discombobulated today. It's been a LONG week and I am REALLY tired.)

Hubby and I have been sick all week and not getting much sleep at all. And of course, up early for work...

It's been a miserable week.

I also found out that one of my sisters has cervical cancer.

She has known for a little while, but tried to handle it on her own.

She has no insurance. She has been turned away by no less than 3 hospitals.

Very sad...

I did some research online and between me and another sister, we turned her toward the American Cancer Society.

She got an appointment and sister took her in. They said they could take care of it all!!

Transportation, surgery, aftercare...!!! We are so relieved!

She has another appointment next week to get her surgery scheduled.

We are hoping that they can get it all and that she'll have no problems afterward.

I'll let you know...

It's snowing!

And it's
beautiful!!!

I walked out of my house this morning after having watched the morning news to see how the weather was going to be for the day. I dreaded it. I could see on the news that it was snowing and slushy in places. The roads were icy and many were closed. (Yes! In TEXAS!!)

I dreaded going out in the cold this morning.

But when I walked outside, I couldn't believe the surge of excitement that came over me!

It's so much different than what I saw on tv. The television showed gray snow, people slipping and sliding around, but in my own front yard, it was absolutely beautiful. The perfect amount of snow -- with snow still falling.

It reminded me a little of the weather where I'm from --

but only a little.

It's like the world has chosen this moment to make itself anew.

Maybe it's the pristineness of it all.

It renews me, in a sense, I suppose.

Much like the rain...

I don't quite understand it. Normally the snow doesn't affect me this way.

I know it will be gone very soon, but I'm happy to have it while it's here.

I hope you all find something that truly inspires you
that you can enjoy as the day wears on.

Peace to all.

I can't believe how COLD it is in Texas!!!

Oh, my goodness!! I'm freezing!!!

How to explain my new year so far...

It's been crazy. It's been up and down.

A rollercoaster ride, you might say.

I've handled some things well.

Some things, not so much.

But I keep trying to remember

"God grant me the serenity..."
