Here in Texas, the yearly "good luck" ritual is eating black-eyed peas on New Year's Day. Because my husband's grandparents were Irish/German, they had to have corned beef and cabbage on New Year's Day to assure a prosperous year.

Blizzie

This little girl is named Blizzie -- short for Blizzard Lizard. She's not albino or anything, she's a special kind of banana or blizzard (depending on who you talk to) lizard. She's beautiful, but when you get this color palette, it also gives you a different personality. She is Spot's "mate," and she really gives him a hard time. If lizards have descriptive personalities (and they do!), she would be the "high maintenance" kind! She can be quite impatient and intolerant of him! Good thing he's so sweet and patient.

Leo and Tiger...

These two are roomates, as well. The little girl looking at me and turning away is Tiger. When we first got her and put her on the floor to run around, she took off like a flash. When hubby put his foot out to block her from squeezing under the doorway into another room, she let out the loudest ROAR! It was hilarious!! This little bitty few inch lizard belting out the biggest noise from that tiny body! I heard her from the other room! And that is how she got the name Tiger!




This little guy is curious as well. When I put the camera up to the top of his cage/tank, he walked over and tried to stand on tippy-toe to see what it was! If you could see it from a different angle, he would look like he was standing up like the gecko on TV that does commercials for a certain insurance company. (Oh, by the way, that gecko is a Day Gecko. These are Leopard Geckos.)

Curiousity

I couldn't find a lot of the other pics of these guys that I KNOW I have, but here's a couple I took last night. We replaced their normal substrate (the stuff on the floor of their tank) with sand for the winter. They seem to really like it. They've suddenly become very active and playful. The curious little girl here is named Bandit.



She just couldn't figure out what that flashy thing was that was coming towards her...

I found this most excellent website today! I like listening to the radio, but I seriously dislike all the interuptions and such. I haven't found "internet radio" stations to be a lot different at times. This site allows you to customize the music you would like to listen to, as well as a particular genre. They take your settings and play music by the same author or style and continue playing it. And you can create different kinds of stations, as well.

It has great features like "forward" if you don't want to listen to a particular song. If you create a "station" and find that the music isn't exactly what you were looking for, there's a button that says, "Hey, that's not what I wanted to hear!" You can skip songs you don't want to listen to, and if you hear a particular song that you really don't like, you can give it the "thumbs down" and it says it will never play it again!

It's a little more like having a huge jukebox with just about any kind of music you'd like to hear! Try it out! You might really like it as much as I do!

Spot doesn't know what to make of this little Emerald Swift.

Unfortunately, this little Swift was too swift and got away from us. I never did find him.

Leo & Spot

This is Leo and Spot. They were the first Leopard Geckos we bought. We bought them just days apart (we actaully believe now that they are brothers) so they'd have a "playmate." As it turned out, they are both male and had to be separated months later. Males don't play well together! As the candle suggests, this was their first birthday. This New Year's Day will be their 6th birthdays.
They now have their own tanks with their own females in them. We also have others, but I can't locate the pictures on this hard drive. I'll keep looking, though!
